Meet the founder of J. Andrew’s Bridal: Jean Leaming
The vision, the passion, the drive… everything that makes J. Andrew’s Bridal one of Atlanta’s most unique bridal salons begins with Jean Leaming.
A native of Long Island, Jean worked for 10 years in the bridal industry in New York City’s fashion district before moving to Fayette 21 years ago with her family. Seeing a need for a young, fresh approach to bridal and formal wear, she opened J. Andrew’s, named after her two sons, in 2005.
“I love when I see a mother and daughter have that very special moment when she finds the gown she will be married in. There are usually tears and hugs. It gets very emotional. We all tear up! I also love when I hear the whole store erupt into cheers and applause. That’s when I know our bride found ‘The Dress.’”
Eleven years later, she feels very fortunate to be a successful female business owner in the same town where she lives.
“A typical day in retail, especially bridal, is never the same,” Jean says. “Some days I am working on new marketing strategies, some days I am placing bridal gown orders or helping customers. It’s different every day and it’s never boring!”
Twice a year, she makes buying trips to the bridal markets in New York City, exploring the new collections and making sure J. Andrew’s stays on trend with the latest designs. What you can count on, day in and day out, is that she’ll be there to do whatever it takes. “Being successful means knowing every facet of the business, from buying to vacuuming, and not being above doing any of it,” Jean says.
The J. Andrew’s difference begins with Jean but it is fulfilled by the exceptional team of ladies who are excited about what they have to offer brides. “I work with an incredible group of women,” Jean says. “I would not be here without them.”
