Marlee Brook is Mother of the Year 2016

Marlee Brooks and her miracle daughter Khloe.

Marlee Brook, 33, of Fayetteville, was nominated for the 2016 Mother of the Year Award by her husband, Brian, who writes:

Marlee is such a fantastic mom to our Khloe. About this time last year, we found out that we were expecting all girl triplets. It was joyous and in our minds, a godsend. We wanted to bless the world with amazing, godly children, so we were thrilled.

At 21 weeks we found out that we had lost Emilee, our sweet baby B. At 25 weeks, 5 days, Marlee had a routine appointment. Our baby A, Isabella’s heart beat was in the 170s. Marlee immediately knew something was wrong and insisted to be admitted to the hospital. She was asked hard questions. Would she rather go home, knowing she would lose Izzy, but give Khloe more time in the womb, or go into the hospital and do everything to save both babies.

There wasn’t even a choice. The next morning, all alone she was rushed into emergency surgery and delivered our two surviving girls. Isabella weighed 1 pound, 1 ounce and Khloe weighed 1 pound 9 ounces. The thing is, Marlee had this unwavering, unbreakable faith. She KNEW both girls would thrive.

Her pastor and family friend, Hugh Kirby came to dedicate both girls to the Lord. It was amazing. Marlee never had a single doubt that both girls would do well.

On June 1, 2015, we chose to take Izzy off life support. She was in complete renal failure and in pain. Marlee held Izzy as if her touch might heal her. I think she hoped it would. Izzy went to be with Jesus that day. After that day, Khloe stayed in the NICU for 4 1/2 more months. It was a scary coaster but we made it.

There are SO many amazing reasons why Marlee should be Mom of the Year. Millions. She has overcome severe grief, depression and anxiety. She’s made best friends with so many of the L&D and NICU nurses. Most of all, because of Marlee, Khloe is the absolute happiest, most smiling, sweetest baby there ever was. She loves no one in the world like she loves her Mama!

She’s is a joyful, grieving mom who has become an expert at balancing it. She’s overcome more in the last year than any woman should ever be faced with.

She’s strong but sensitive. She’s such a loving person but knows always when to stand up for what is right. She’s had a hard path but all she wants is to help others. She’s fantastic. She has been through miscarriage, still born loss and infant loss… But here we are talking about how strong she is! She’s amazing. She helps everyone before the thought of helping herself even crosses her mind. She’s our super mom!!
