As autumn begins to settle in, the clock starts ticking for certain fall trends. Since the season is only lasts about 8 weeks, trying to wear all of your favorite early fall fashions before it’s too late (and too cold!) can feel like a race against time. Once the temperatures begin to drop, some styles just won’t work anymore. This month we’ve brought you a bucket list of fall fashion items (and how to wear them) before December rolls around.
- Suede skirt
The magic of the suede mini skirt is that it looks fabulous with just about anything. Before the wintery storms blow in, grab your suede skirt and put it to work! Colored suede has been on trend for a few seasons now and it’s such and easy piece to style. For a casual look, pair a camel-colored suede mini with a loose striped tee (which is another fall fashion list item), booties, and a denim jacket.
- Peep-toe Booties
Want to look instantly on trend? Buy a pair of open-toe booties. This popular style has been taken over the runway this season, and it’s obviously sticking around. This look does come with a bit of urgency, however, since winter is on it’s way and your toes will soon require more coverage. Wear open-toe booties with dark, ankle-hugging skinny jeans, and a loose-fitting sweater or blouse. Throw on a cardigan or a long vest for a laid-back, layered look.
- Sleeveless Coat
The trench coat has gotten a cool upgrade this fall. What’s our advice? Rock the sleeveless trend while it lasts! In just a few months, this style will become much trickier to wear. Sleeveless coats look great when paired with a simple tank, straight-leg jeans, and stilettos to add more height. Take your sleeveless coat into fall by layering a tight-fitting tee underneath.
- Leather Moto Jacket
Leather adds a bit of sass to any outfit. The high style of a leather moto jacket compensates for its lack of warmth. Leather jackets are perfect as a fall add-on. Moto jackets (either real or faux) look stylish when worn draped over the shoulders, or casually worn as a light layer. Pair your black moto jacket with a black-and-white wide striped dress, burgundy tights and black heels for a stylish fall look.
- Colored Tights
Fleece-lined tights and leggings may cut it during the colder months, but colored nylon tights are just too thin to wear all winter long. Tights in hues such as mustard yellow or olive green definitely have a December expiration date. Pull off a feminine fall outfit by wearing turquoise-colored tights with a dark floral dress, a cream cardigan, and vintage loafers.
When the holidays come to town, stripes leave the party. Stripes are a favorite because they add a bit of pattern without making too much of a statement. Black-and-white striped tops look fantastic during the fall, especially when worn with a burgundy vest and dark denim jeans tucked into cognac-colored riding boots. Another way to wear stripes is to wear a fitted, black-and-white crew neck sweater with black denim jeans, black leather booties and a mustard-colored coat.
There’s nothing quite like a cut-out dress. It’s almost like a LBD with an attitude. It’s a guaranteed head-turner. Cut-out dresses were so popular last season that surely you’ve got one or two of them still in your closet. Get a few more uses out of your favorite little number by pairing it with booties and a leather jacket.
As fall arrives, it’s time to pack your rompers away. Although some styles may work with tights and knee-high boots, the romper trend usually dies down after Thanksgiving. Long-sleeve rompers are your best bet for fall fashion. Wear your romper with suede fringe booties (or open-toe booties) and a wide-brimmed felt hat. Top the outfit off with some accessories such as a suede clutch or leather fringe belt.
Fall weather means gloriously sunny days and cooler nights, plus an abundance of outdoor activities (think pumpkin patches and festivals). Don’t miss another opportunity to look your best, by wearing some of your favorite early fall pieces before it’s too late.
