Show your mom you love her with the gift that will make her feel beautiful!

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to give your mom something beauty-related, whether it’s in the form of a product you think she’ll love, an experience, or a combination of both. Show your love and appreciation by giving her a fragrance that will uplift her spirits or help her make a statement, take her shopping for new makeup, get your nails done together, or even add a beautiful new makeup book to her collection. Consider these ideas:

“Face Paint: Te Story of Makeup” by Lisa Eldridge: If your mom loves history and beauty, and she enjoys learning about makeup trends through the ages, she needs this book (about $20.00 on Amazon.com) on her coffee table or bookshelf. Celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge walks you through the art and history of makeup from the days of Cleopatra to the present. She covers the dark-rimmed eyes of the Egyptians, the overly-powdered skin of Victorian times, the modern day glamour of Hollywood, and everything in-between.

Fragrance Sample  Sephora.com has several fragrance samplers to try, ranging in price from about $25.00 to around $60.00. There’s enough of each perfume to give each one a solid trial run before making a commitment to a new scent. Once your mom has decided on her favorite, she can turn in the certificate that comes inside the box for a full-size rollerball (if the box was closer to the $25.00 end of the spectrum) or a full bottle (for more expensive samplers).

Makeovers at a Makeup Counter  Take your pick of the makeup counters or makeup stores, but call ahead and make an appointment if you want to go on Mother’s Day. Most counters and makeup stores are happy to provide makeovers but require a minimum purchase (usually around $50). Take your mom, let the experts make her feel beautiful, then buy a product or two for her to cover the purchase requirements and help her achieve her new look on her own.

Spa Day  A spa day is a classic choice, but it’s a great way to have some mother-daughter bonding time if you go together. Have facials, massages — whatever you both like! For a less expensive option, try purchasing a couple of facial masks (try The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask from Ulta, $18.00), nail polishes (check out OPI’s New Orleans 4 Piece Mini Set, $14.50 at Ulta, for gorgeous springtime shades), a bottle of wine, a movie, and whatever else you think would make the perfect girls’ night in, then have a spa day by yourselves at one of your homes.

Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Eye Shadow Collection (Ulta, $36.00): Reminiscent of their Chocolate Bar palettes, this one mixes neutral shades with a couple of purple shadows. These shadows are also infused with cocoa powder for antioxidants. Since these are neutral with the often crowd-pleasing purple as an accent color, this will complement almost any skin tone, eye color, and hair color.

Chloé Eau de Parfum Perfume is a personal preference, of course, but if you have a pretty good handle on your mom’s taste and know she likes powdery florals, Chloé makes an excellent choice for a spring and summer scent. It’s a timeless, elegant fragrance for women of any age, and it features rose, magnolia, freesia, amber, pink peony, honey, and cedarwood. It’s fresh, but comforting all at the same time. A 1.7 oz. bottle is $105.00 in department stores, but if you’d prefer a smaller bottle, you can pick up a 1 oz. bottle at Ulta or Sephora for just $75.00.

Makeup Brushes  MAC’s Look in a Box Advanced Brush Kit (Nordstrom.com, $59.50) has everything your mom needs to beautifully apply her makeup. There’s an angled contour brush, slanted foundation brush, medium angled shading brush, mini shader brush, small angle brush, and pencil brush. Her face and eye makeup will be one step closer to flawless with these blending and shading tools.

A Subscription Box  Try Birchbox, Ipsy, Glossybox, or Julep. You pay a subscription fee (some offer discounts when you sign up and pay for several months at a time or sign up for their newsletter) and the recipient gets a new box full of surprises every month. Some products are trial sizes while others are full-size.

Whether you live close enough to visit and turn Mother’s Day into an all-day beauty event or you need to find the perfect thing to ship to your mom to brighten her day, new products, treatments, or even gift certificates or makeup books can be just what you’re looking for.
