Vivian Tyco celebrated her 105th birthday on February 10. She was born in 1911 in New York City but grew up in Connecticut, graduating from South Norwalk High School, where she would walk 3 miles to catch the bus for school every day. She was voted Miss Norwalk in 1928. Vivian met her husband Jim on a blind date, where they went to a dance and kept on dancing for 58 wonderful years thereafter. Vivian married Jim when she was 25 years old on November 27, 1935. During WWII, Jim left with the Army for three years. Vivian was a wonderful mom to her children, Donna and Bob, and took care of the family home. The family moved to Walhalla, South Carolina, where they lived for 46 years. After Jim retired, they would travel often overseas and got to visit and tour many European countries, including Paris, Germany, Ireland, Holland (Vivian’s favorite) and England. Vivian moved to Azalea Estates shortly after her 100th birthday and has enjoyed living there for almost five years!
