For many of us, making Christmas cookies–especially as a shared activity with family members–is a must-do holiday tradition. (The rest of us will just be content with eating Christmas cookies as a holiday tradition.) We’re excited to share some of the best cookie recipes ever published in Fayette Woman, including award-winning confections from our annual cookie contests. So pull out your mixing bowl and spatula and get in the spirit of the season in the sweetest way possible! (And don’t forget to post photos of your cookies on our facebook page!)

- 3 eggs well beaten
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup real butter (melted)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp soda
- 2 tbsp cream
- Flavor to taste
Beat eggs well, add melted butter and brown sugar, then mix. Add cream and flavoring. Add flour to which the baking powder and soda have been added. Work in the flour to make dough stiff. Bake cookies 300 – 350 degrees until brown.
Make an egg wash with one beaten egg and one tablespoon of water. Mix with different food colorings (red, green, yellow and orange). Before baking, use a paintbrush and apply egg wash using your artistic eye. Just use the cookies like a canvas, with the egg wash as the paint!
