With a Starbucks on the corner of nearly every city in the U.S., it’s no surprise coffee consumption is up seven percent over 2011. According to the 2012 National Coffee Drinking Trends Report, coffee has a distinctive advantage over soft drink consumption with a 10-point lead beyond it’s carbonated counterpart.
This news comes on the cusp of National Coffee Day, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29 and celebrated by some of the most popular cafes and restaurants in the country. The popular convenience store is getting a head start on the festivities with its second-annual CofFREE Day on Friday, Sept. 28. Get a free 20 oz. coffee between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. at participating stores.

The Starbucks Runner Reward is not part of National Coffee Day, but offers a great deal all the same. Buy four drinks and get the fifth free through Nov. 12 at participating locations.
