Kitchen Trends

The themes of several posts here at Thoughts of Home lately have centered on kitchens—kitchen sinks, kitchen cabinets and track lighting for the kitchen. A few future posts will also feature a specific kitchen theme. Today, I thought we’d take a step back and look at a few general trends in kitchen design that are currently relevant.
- commercial, ceiling or island mounted exhaust fans and range hoods
- exotic stone, poured cement, or granite countertops
- stand-alone island with an extra sink
- built-in microwave with a matching cabinet front
- 6-burner range and convection oven
- recessed lighting mixed with track or pendant fixtures
A few former trends that have lost their luster include
- wallpaper
- gold or brass hardware
- oak and walnut cabinets and baseboards
