Much as been been written about weight gain during the holiday season. Many media outlets report the average to be 7-10 pounds, but according to new study published in The New England Journal of Medicine, the average is just 1 pound. Now for the bad news: We typically don’t lose the pound we’ve gained. With the average weight gain for adults being 1-2 pounds every year, most of it can be attributed to holiday eating. Merry Christmas!
Ultimate Fitness in Peachtree City has been running their “Holiday Challenge” this month. Attend ten aerobics classes and you earn a water bottle. After fifteen you get a t-shirt. My tally is up to 11 right now, but I’ll have 15 by next Monday. I’ve added Zumba to my repertoire to catch up (LOVE IT!). And…I weighed myself this morning and I’ve knocked off another five pounds. Take take that St. Nick!
If you are looking for a New Year’s Challenge, St. Paul Lutheran School in Peachtree City will be hosting their annual Frostbite 5K on Saturday, January 8. The race starts and finishes in the lower-level school parking lot of the school at 700 Ardenlee Parkway. The race route is along a scenic, tree-lined trail of the Peachtree City golf cart path. The 5K starts at 9:00 am and the 1 mile walk/run starts at 9:10 am. I’ll be doing the 1 mile.
Parking is available at Crabapple Elementary, 450 Crabapple Lane, Peachtree City with complimentary golf cart shuttle to the starting line. There will be a bag drop for athletes to leave items while they run. Following the race enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and snacks during the indoor awards ceremony and door prize giveaway.
So put that brownie down and come join us for fellowship and fitness on January 8th!
Happy Holidays!!!
