I just got back from a delightful day in Senoia. This lovely historic town is jumpin’ right now between the recent opening of the Southern Living Idea Home and frantic set construction before filming begins on season three of The Walking Dead.

The new Southern Living Idea Home is a restoration of an old farmhouse. It is located right across the street from the 2010 Southern Living Idea Home – the brownstone townhouses at Abercorn Place. The farmhouse will be open from June 2 – December 23, Wednesday – Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. The cost is $12 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charitable partner, Camp Southern Ground. The camp is the vision of recording artist and Fayetteville resident, Zac Brown, of the award-winning Zac Brown Band, and will offer a wide range of therapeutic activities for children with special needs.

Restored farmhouse has all the amenities but keeps a country charm.

View of the back garden from an upstairs bedroom - lovely seating area with fire pit.

Big front and side porch offers places to while away the day.

I love potting benches and this one is so charming!

I am a BIG fan of The Walking Dead TV series about the ‘zombie apocalypse.’ The third season is being filmed right here in Senoia and crews are scrambling around to complete sets before filming starts on June 7.  Signs are going up indicating that Senoia will become the fictional town of Woodbury.

A set on Main Street for The Walking Dead will be Woodbury City Hall.

The set for the Woodbury City Hall, located on Main Street, is near Senoia Coffee & Café. And speaking of the coffee shop, I picked up a nice Zombie Dark roast to bring home!

Now this has nothing to do with either the Southern Living Idea Home or Zombies, but I love Senoia and I love garden sheds. I stopped and took this photo of a really cool shed.  Love it.
