A good dentist knows a lot about your mouth; your teeth, your tongue, your gums, etc… Apparently the dentists and staff at Vassey Dental Partners in Peachtree City also know a lot about what goes in your mouth. For the last four years, Vassey Dental Partners has dabbled in the culinary arts industry by creating and publishing a cookbook with a collection of recipes provided by staff members, their families and also some patients. The cookbooks sell for $10 each, and all proceeds generated from the sale of the cookbooks are donated to Fayette Youth Protection Homes.
The cookbook is currently in its second edition and has raised $3,500 for the children served by the Fayette Youth Protection Homes. Thirty of the Vassey Dental Partners staff members have contributed their favorite recipes. The cookbook offers a variety of mouth-watering recipes. When asked how cookbook sales have been generated, Dr. Michelle Konwick, DMD said, “We put the cookbooks on display in our patient rooms and in our waiting room. When patients learned that the proceeds were going towards such a good cause, the books just flew off the shelf!” Copies of the cookbooks are still available and can be purchased at the dental office which is located at 1601 Georgian Park in Peachtree City or by calling the office at (770-487-5346).
All proceeds from the sale of the cookbooks benefit Fayette Youth Protection Homes, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment and supportive services to children and youth who have been the victims of abuse, neglect or other tragic circumstances. The organization operates a residential group home, the Friday-Johnson Home, which provides comprehensive services and healing in a loving, homelike environment. FYPH also oversees a community-based foster care program called Grace for Children which arranges placement of children of all ages into loving private foster care homes. FYPH offers a third program for children in need, Gracie’s Closet, which is a clothing resource center for children living in foster care on the south side of metro Atlanta.
