The Christmas Centerpiece

The photo above is from a Christmas luncheon I attended last weekend. I thought the centerpiece was elegant and did a nice job of adding a focal point to the table without overwhelming the table or getting in the way of the meal itself or the conversation around it. It is important to consider the size and bulk of a centerpiece. Centerpieces that are too tall will inhibit conversation across the table, and centerpieces that are too wide will make it difficult to fit all the necessary dishes and glasses for a meal.
Here are a few simple centerpieces that would be nice for Christmas:
- Place evergreen branches on top of a serving platter, and pile ornaments on top.
- For a variation, use magnolias to cover the platter instead of evergreens. Also top with ornaments.
- Fill a glass bowl with shimmering Christmas ornaments and beads.
- For a rustic Christmas centerpiece, fill a wooden toolbox with evergreen branches, berries and pillar candles.
