It’s My Birthday!!!

Ok, so today is my 32nd birthday.  Not so fast with the “Happy Birthday”s, especially since I’m hafway to 64, as my husband so eloquently put it this morning.  Usually, every year, I try to evaluate what I have done that was great over the past year, and what I have done that was not so great.  Sometimes, I end of feeling pretty bad about the previous year, and other times, I feel pretty good.  Usually, this is a very silent and meditative process, but this year, I’m sharing it with you…And, please…don’t judge…:)

“Great”

1.  I started my own business!  Yeah!

2.  I was a great room mom for my son’s second grade class!

3.  I threw my daughter the best 4th birthday party…ever!!!

4.  My husband and I celebrated ten years of marriage!

5. I have had the pleasure of making some wonderful and amazing friends this year!

7. We have added a ball of fun to our family–a chocolate lab named Cocoa…

8. I have received the opportunity to blog for you wonderful people!!!

“Not-so-great”

1.  I yelled at my kids—yesterday—

2. I should have gone to church more.

3.  I should have called my brothers more.

4.  I should have been on time for most of those events…

5.  I probably could have been a  more understanding wife…No, never mind…It’s him

Bottom line:  There’s an old church saying that says, “I’m not where I want to be, but I’m not where I used to be…”  Today, I am deciding to live my life and make the best of whatever comes my way.  To actively engage in my own life…To not let negative people or things affect me, and to hold on to what is real.   To appreciate every day as it comes…and to not let life pass me by.
